Who can apply?

Candidates holding Bachelors’ degree in any undergraduate programme and are interested in majoring in human rights, democracy building and democratization may apply for the Human Rights and Democratization Master Program. The program has no age limitations. International students are most welcome to study at the Center for European Studies.

 

How many credits will I have by the end of the academic programme?

Human Rights and Democratization MA programme includes both compulsory and elective courses. The whole program comprises a total of 120 credits, including Master’s thesis amounting 24 credits. The teaching staff involves most prominent professionals of the field in all of the partner countries. Number of visiting scholars is foreseen to be invited.

 

Is the study part-time or full-time?

Human Rights and Democratization MA programme is full-time.

 

Can I still apply for the programme if I finished my coursework but have not yet received diploma?

All candidates, who are expected to receive their official diplomas (though they have already finished coursework) by the start of the programme in September 20112, are welcome to apply. They need to provide the Admissions committee with official letter from the university together with transcript. Copies of official diploma and transcript are to be sent to the committee as soon as they are received

 

What are the working languages of the course?

English and Russian are the official working languages of the Regional Master's Programme, since these languages are most common in Eastern Partnership Region. Lecturers will provide students with materials in Russian and English. Depending on the course language exam questions are to be answered either in English or Russian.

 

Is it possible to work while attending the HR&D courses?

Working is de facto not compatible with courses. Given the intensity of the Programme, it is not feasible to engage in income generating work on the side.

 

Is there any tuition fee?

No, there is no tuition fee as such.

 

Does HR&D offer any scholarship?

Yes, a certain number of students can benefit from scholarship. It will cover travel expenses, and certain amount (equal to 250 EURO) will be provided monthly to cover living expenses.

 

Is there any specific form for recommendation letter?

No, there is no specific form.  References need to be written on letterhead and sent to the Admissions Committee.

 

Do the references have to be written in English, or should they be translated?

No, the letters can be written either in English or Russian. In case if they are written in other languages, official translation needs to be included.

Inauguration of the European Club at the Centre for European Studies

The Global Campus of Human Rights annual international conference in Argentina

6-7 April 2016 the Global Campus of Human Rights annual international conference took place at the International Centre for Political Studies of the University of San Martin (CIEP-UNSAM) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  The Conference on “Assessing Individual Freedoms and Collective Challenges in the XXI Century” was organized in the frames of the Global Campus to promote education and research on human rights and democracy worldwide.

Guest Lectures by Prof Anja MIHR at Belarusian State University

During the period of March 28-April 1, 2016, Prof. Dr. Anja Mihr conducted a series of lectures on Democarcy and Democratisation in Contemporary Europe  to the students of the MA programme in Human RIghts and Democratisation in the Caucasus who curretly study at Belarusian State University. During her lectures Prof.Mihr spoke about democracy and docaritisation in general, made presenation on transitional democracy, transitional justice measures, consolidated democracy, etc.
