Internship is an important constituent of a learning process.  The MA in Human Rights and Democratization in the Caucasus aims to equip students not only with theoretical knowledge but more importantly with practical and personal skills, such as project management skills, dealing with HR cases, working in the field, research, teamwork abilities, etc.  Internship should ideally develop and promote both theoretical and practical skills.

The Internship amounts to 3 ECTS credits and should include minimum 4-6 weeks of full time work (excludes report writing) or 6-8 weeks in case of part-time internship. Students are free to have internship at NGO’s, state bodies, research institutions, public and private organization, media companies, i.e. in places where a student can deal with Human Rights and Democratization issues.

By the end of the internship students are to submit report, which needs to be approved by internship supervisor. Additionally, Internship Supervisor needs to fill in assessment paper and provide the Centre with full evaluation describing student’s achievements, tasks and responsibilities during internship period.

Master’s thesis is a crucial and intellectually challenging research element of the Programme. Its aim is to demonstrate students’ ability to gather and assess information, present arguments and analyze critically. The result of the MA thesis is to showcase student’s ability to present research findings in a concise and scholarly way.

MA Thesis is an original piece of work that explicitly presents research and results; it is not just a mere presentation of others’ ideas, theories and proposals. Within the 2025/26 academic year time frame, thesis is written throughout the year and defended during in mid- September 2026.

All students enrolled in the Programme are required to submit a Master’s thesis for the completion of the Programme and defend it publicly.
