Centre for European Studies of Yerevan State University starts the call for applications for Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratization in the Caucasus – Global Campus Caucasus 2026/27.
Starting from the 2026/27 academic year there will be different admission procedures for local (citizens of the republic of Armenia) and international students.
a) Local students should apply online through admission.ysu.am. Please consult the website for details.
After choosing “Master’s programme in Human rights and Democratisation” from the list of programmes, please upload the following compulsory documents through YSU website:
- Scanned University Diploma/s and transcript/s (in case of transcript the 1st page of the transcript and grades page in Armenian are required)
- Photo (3×4, good quality)
- Scanned copy of passport (1-4 pages)
- Admission service fee receipt – 5000 AMD (payments should be made to YSU “Ardshinbank” CJSC account 2470101276000001)
- Military ID (if available) for male students (pages 1-4, 18 -19 must be uploaded).
Additionally, all local students should send the following documents in pdf formats to info@ces.am:
- A Curriculum Vitae (max 2 pages);
- Motivation Letter (max 450-600 words) either/or in English and Russian;
- Scholarship motivation letter (max. 500 words) either/or in English and Russian;
- Thesis proposal (min. 750-1000 words) on Human Rights and Democratization related topics (more detailed information concerning the for thesis proposal requirements can be found in the section “Written Sample“);
- Contact details for two nominees to provide Reference Letters (one from academia, and one from a current or former employer, if the applicant has work experience)
b) International students should apply through https://regionalmaster.net/application-form/ website.
All international students should fill out the application form on the regionalamster.net and submit necessary documents for the application package. Before applying please make sure that you have prepared all necessary documents in advance, as shortlisted students will be required to submit certain documents through special website of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (MoESCS).
Application package for https://regionalmaster.net/application-form/ should include the following documents:
- Copy of the graduation certificate with the grades, translated and verified by the Notary. In the case of specific countries, international validation (Apostille) may be needed 9in case if applicant holds both BA and MA degrees, both degrees, including transcripts need to be translated and verified by the Notary and/or Apostille;
- Photo (3×4, good quality)
- Scanned copy of passport;
- A Curriculum Vitae (max 2 pages);
- Motivation Letter (max 450-600 words) either/or in English and Russian;
- Scholarship motivation letter (max. 500 words) either/or in English and Russian;
- Thesis proposal (min. 750-1000 words) on Human Rights and Democratization related topics (more detailed information concerning the for thesis proposal or essay topics and requirements can be found in the section “Written Sample“);
- Contact details for two nominees to provide Reference Letters (one from academia, and one from a current or former employer, if the applicant has work experience);
Upon successful submission of the application, a confirmation letter will be sent to an e-mail address indicated in the application.
Additionally, those who have taken English language proficiency tests may indicate the score and include Certificate(s)
- English Proficiency Test Score- TOEFL (IBT 90-100) or IELTS (6.5-7.0)*
*The consortium reserves the right to request evidence of English language proficiency
Compulsory additional documents to be provided to MoESCS website
- Copy of the birth certificate or a copy of the baptism certificate verified by a notary (Only for Diaspora Armenians);
- Health Certificate (Medical reference about general health status)
To ensure that all documents are provided on time, it is suggested to start the process as soon as possible.
NB! All documents provided by international students will be processed by GC Caucasus team; shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. Successful candidates will be informed about pre-selection. Simultaneously they will be required to submit all necessary documents to MoESCS website. Only after Ministry’s approval and successful visa procedure (if required), applicants will be OFFICIALLY admitted.
Admission timetable
The Enrollment shall be undertaken in 3 stages:
- First round of Submission of Application and Required Documents -June 1 -26, 2026
- Second round of Submission of Application and Required Documents – July 6 – August 17, 2026
- Shortlisting & Interviews: Evaluation of applications and interviews with shortlisted candidates – July 1-3; August 25-26, 2026*
- Stage 4– Official Invitation – by mid-July, 2024 (first round) and by August 27 (second round)
We encourage all applicants to apply as early as possible.
* Please note that interviews with applicants from target counties might happen in a face-to-face format or via Zoom.
Selection criteria

The primary consideration of the selection committee is the applicant’s motivation and ability to meet the selection criteria for each spot. A selection panel will review all applications and evaluate them against the following selection criteria:
- Academic merit (Educational background, CV)
- Motivation: Interest in human rights and democratisation issues
- Experience in relevant fields.
- Commitment to the idea of voluntarism and social involvement
- Provided written paper.
