The Centre for European Studies within the frames of the Master’s Programme of Human Rights and Democratisation in the Caucasus organised a short course in “Instruments on Protection and Promotion of Human Rights” that was organised as part of the Human Rights in Legal Perspective module. The course was designed in cooperation with representative of the Human Rights Defender’s office of Armenia and delivered during Autumn semester of 2020/21 academic year.

The course  was aimed to build and enhance knowledge and practical skills of students related to the protection and promotion of human rights on the international, regional and domestic levels. Special emphasis was put on the discussion of the human rights protection mechanisms of the United Nations (UN) and Council of Europe (CoE), as well as the role of the National Human Rights Institutions (NHRI) and challenges they face while protecting and promoting human rights. The course also covered the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), as well as the practice and case law of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
